Manning Family Science Center

To engage students, faculty, and alumni alike, Gropen created an interactive and instructive lobby area at the Manning Family Science Center at the Woodberry Forest School. Collaborating with Bartzen & Ball Architects, Gropen brought to life the theme of time and space through a series of unique exhibits. A large display panel with encased artifacts graphically illustrates the history of the universe. The rings of a tree that once stood near the Center lead visitors through a timeline of important historical events. A vertical glass vane with a backing fossil wall outlines the Earth’s history. And the one-of-a-kind DNA double-helix LED light provides both a teaching tool and a decorative showpiece.
